South North Volunteers in Bremen

The weltwärts pilot project South North Component competed its second round in Bremen.

The volunteers were coming from our partners in India and South Africa. They got selected by our partners and suggested to the according placements. 

The South North programme falls under the weltwärts guidelines in the cooperation with Bundesfreiwilligendienst. At weltwärts-Bremen the principles are the same as for the North South programme, the incomers get an intensive guidance with seminars and mentors and beyond are also getting involved in parts of the North South programme.

The South North volunteers were active in our offices in Bremen.

econtur is involved in environmental education and a active carrier of the weltwärts programme. At the econtur office the south north volunteers support:

  • Project activities and events
  • Coordination tasks, project work and events of weltwärts-Bremen
  • Engagement in the Bremen-Durban Sister City Partnership
In the  BORDA office in Bremen all the ties come together and the projects around the world get coordinated and administrated. At BORDA the south north volunteers support:

  • Administration and current projects
  • environmental education and evaluation processes
  • international project management in the planning, application and evaluation of local projects.

Sanelisiwe comes from the Game Changer Programme of the Whizzkids United to Bremen and supported the econtur team for one year.

Karthik is a water engineer who came from our partner CCD in Bangalore to Bremen and supported the BORDA Team for one year.


from Durban, South Africa

Sandile came as a communication scientist from our partner the INK ABM office in Durban to Bremen and supported the BORDA Team for one year.

Susan came as a translator and interpreter  from our partner DGC to Bremen and supported our econtur team for six month.
